The Tumaini Schools Tanzania Foundation was established at the end of 2024 by Modest and Lightness Bayo in response to the growing number of school dropouts in Tanzania.
One of the key reasons behind founding this organization was the devastating impact of extreme weather conditions in 2024. Heavy rainfall and severe floods affected various parts of the country, including Karatu, where many families lost their homes and businesses. As a result, children from these affected families struggled to afford school fees, uniforms, and essential supplies, ultimately leading to an increase in school dropouts.
Beyond natural disasters, other factors such as financial hardships, illness, divorce, and the loss of parents have also forced many students to abandon their education. The foundation is dedicated to supporting these children and youth, ensuring they receive the education and opportunities they deserve to build a brighter future.
